Black car wax – Top brands

Black car wax and other types of colored car waxes always seem to fuel a debate between car enthusiasts, car detailers, etc about how well it actually works. Some people argue that the wax color doesn’t matter, while others are readily insistent that it makes a world of difference. I am on the fence about this debate, but in general I feel that any little advantage you can find to help give your car a better shine, is all the better.

So what is the best wax for black car? It all depends on the age of your car, the kind of condition it is in, and also the size. Furthermore, keep in mind that $30 car waxes aren’t necessarily as good as a $10 wax. I’ve learned this hard way and I urge you not to buy into marketing slogans and fancy promises to influence your purchase.

With that said, here are a few black car waxes that should work well on all vehicle types, no matter the condition or age:

Turtle Wax Black Color Magic – this brand has been around for 5 decades and is the best selling wax in the world because it is always reliable. This is a great wax for older cars as it helps to bring out any dulled finish and will conceal some smaller surface scratches.

Blue Coral Black Magic Car Wax – this brand is better for newer cars, but should do a good job on any car that is 10-15 years old. It really leaves a great glossy finish, and it goes on easy and comes off without much elbow grease. I even managed to get a little on my bumper and it came off without much effort.

Keep in mind that newer cars may need a light waxing job, while older cars will probably need a heavy coat or two to really bring out the shine. Also be sure to wax in a circular motion and not in a back to back motion, which can leave the finish looking dull.

Best car wax

The best car wax brands generally go on easily, come off without leaving any residue, produces a great shine and lasts for a long time. Now keep in mind that what works well on one car’s finish, may not work quite as well on another car. This is why if you ask several car nuts “what is the best car wax”, you will get a whole slew of different answers.

However, there are several brands that always seem to do a great job, no matter what car I seem to use them on. This doesn’t mean that you can’t find a better car wax brand for your particular vehicle, but these are almost always a safe bet.

Eagle One NanoWax – while I don’t buy into their marketing slogan that they are the most technologically advanced car wax on the market, this wax does leave a great shine and it is a breeze to remove. It even does a nice job of filling in and concealing small scratches. It has a nice pump feature that makes it easy to dispense as well (if you are lazy like me).

Liquid Glass Car Polish – I don’t think I ever heard a bad thing about any of their car wax products. They have been around for a very long time and always seem to get great reviews online and from auto detailers. Every time I use this polish, I can literally see my reflection in the car’s finish and it lasts like that forever it seems. Just a great all around product with a history of excellence.

Mothers Car Wax – any wax in their product line always seems to do a fantastic job. You will see me recommend a lot of Mothers products on this site for a reason – their products rock! Whenever I use their Reflections car wax, it leaves a perfect all around wet shine that makes my car really stand out.

If you aren’t sure what the best car waxes are, then I would suggest that you can’t go wrong with any of the three I recommend above. As I said earlier, some waxes look better on different vehicles, so if you can, give all three a try and see which one gives your vehicle the most brilliant shine.
